The ‘Two-gether’ Valentine’s series was inspired by a curiosity of animals that mate for life. I wanted to express the qualities of the bonded pair within their partnership – love, support, sharing the work of life tasks, appreciation, care. This series has been such a pleasure to create, learning about these animal pairs and looking at lots of lovely pictures to bring together the perfect image to express this sweetness.
The hummingbirds was the first painting in this series. Many birds mate for life, but after I’d already started the painting I discovered that hummingbirds are not monogamous. They do make a lovely design though 😉
The original water mixable oil on canvas painting is 16″x20″ created in 2025. This image of the hummingbirds is available as a card or 8″x10″ print.
